'Allen's Retreat' is a lovely 8 berth, 2014 model Delta Phoenix caravan situated on the Parkdean Resorts site in beautiful Challaborough Bay, Devon.
Challaborough Bay has been our retreat from the real world for many years, and this year we have been fortunate enough to be to finally invest in our own 'home from home' there- gradually adding little bits and pieces to make it feel even more homely.
Sleeping up to eight people, it has one double plus two twin bedrooms, with additional sleeping for two in the lounge on a sofa bed. Two large and comfy sofas are arranged around a good sized floor space- there's plenty of room for children and adults alike to share the space without feeling crammed in. A good range of kitchen cupboards makes for plenty of room to hide away all your holiday food essentials, whilst family life is made a little simpler still with plenty of storage under the dining area seats, a hall cupboard big enough for all the family's coats, shoes and wellies, and separate toilet and shower rooms cut down on the bathroom queues when everyone's getting ready to go out!
With both decking and a private garden area, our caravan has the best of both worlds- morning coffee relaxing on the decking to catch the early sunshine is a must!
With all the park facilities only a short two minute walk away, the rest of your day is sorted too! The beautiful horseshoe bay is a huge attraction of this park- with no steep cliffs to climb down to reach it, the mainly sandy beach is always popular with young and old alike, and you'll find people down there whatever the weather.
Children's clubs for the under elevens are run every day by our very dedicated entertainment team- everyday has a new theme so there'll be something to appeal to everyone during the week! (Children under eight do need an adult to stay with them, but this an ideal time for a chill out and read, or to take advantage of the in-Venue wifi!)
After this, on particularly poor days the amusement arcade is one option- with a range of games, air hockey and two-penny machines suitable for all ages, a soft play area for the younger children and Playstations for the older ones. The indoor swimming pool and a small gym just opposite the arcade provide other options. When the weather is brighter, a fenced in play park provides the under twelves with somewhere safe to let off a bit of steam!
The Waterfront restaurant and bar overlook the sea, on hot days seating is provided out on the patio where you can enjoy a leisurely breakfast, lunch or dinner together with a Costa coffee or something a bit stronger! On rainy days the large windows overlooking the bay provide the same opportunity, but with the benefit of being warm and dry indoors.
A full evening's entertainment is provided every day in the Venue- with children's disco time, Starland Crazy fun and games for the children often featuring special shows from Sid and Lizzie, Bingo for the adults, party dances for all, a live show from either our very own Trouper entertainment team or a visiting act, and the evening is always rounded off with disco time until close. A full bar, a takeaway and a vending machine provide all your evening food and drink needs!
